I am so LOST! Thanks to you wonderful volunteers for your help!!! adware, mirosoft spyware, and spybot S/D scans run. I cannot find the firewall on my computer, the folder where it was is now empty after my restart!Ģ. I have downloaded Spybot S/D, AVG (and deleted McAfee trial), and a firewall protector from "Zone Labs". All of my original icons are on the screen, and I have not noticed any different or new ones. My screen has three "layers" the original picture, a light blue "screen", and a white "screen". Although, the picture still displays itself at the very beginning of startup and at the very end of shutdown. After scans were done, I was unable to change my desktop background to it's original picture. (I am not the only user and cannot guarantee this). To the best of my knowledge, the program was not installed on my computer. I'm going to look for that, but I'd love to get the GUI to work if anyone can help.I recently had a screen that said "your computer is infected with spyware, click here to download software to remove it". kde or something I can just copy a new image there. I assume there's a file somewhere deep in. Still no effect.Īlso just in case, I tried rebooting and repeating everything above, sill no effect. Clicked that and again tried to change the wallpaper. Right clicking again on the panel and it now has an "Unlock Widgets" instead of Panel Options.

Seemed to have no effect on this problem.

When I right click on the panel under "Panel Options" one of the options is to "Lock Widgets" Clicked that and again tried the three things I did before to change the wallpaper. I had Kubuntu use the entire disk and blow away Windoze and whatever else might have been there. You say it was a fresh install of Kubuntu, but did you upgrade from a previous version or overwrite the previous version when installing from a disk or USB stick?Īlso do you know if the widgets is locked on your system? If it is that may prevent you from changing the wallpaper. Thanks for reply.
